SHANGHAI CORNERS: pen and ink illustrations

In a city of 26 million people, everybody has their favorite Shanghai corner. These illustrations are often done as commissions for people who are leaving Shanghai and want to capture the the view of their favorite spot in a unique way. My goal is to combine the interesting architecture that frames the view and the people who make the corners come alive. These illustrations start as a series of photographs and then are translated into an illustration of the beloved area. In some instances, I will use a similar image for an illustration and a linoleum print, showcasing how each technique can interpret the space differently.
